Let's rally as a church to this great “Mission to Montana!” Our own home state is a mission field we want to invest in!
We are excited to include you in some developing mission/vision and an open door for ministry right here in our home state. Across Montana, past Billings, is the "Northern Cheyenne Indian Nation" and the small town of Lame Deer. The Northern Cheyenne is a little known and kind of out of the way place. It shares a border with the "Crow Nation '' and is near the Battle of the Little BigHorn, (Custer's Last Stand).
Revive has a long friendship (over 40 years) with Don and Ruth Johnson who help oversee churches in that part of our nation, including "Hope Church Lame Deer." The church in Lame Deer has been led now by Don and Ruth's daughter Elisa who lives on the church property in a parsonage with her youth leader Casey, and four kids she has brought in from the community mainly out of difficult situations.
Our church leaders have felt drawn to missions in Montana and want to develop areas of mission focus that go beyond "one hit wonder" type of mission trips but rather develop long term places of involvement, partnership and impact. We believe Lame Deer is a place God is calling us to work, not just being a Blessing... but to Build for Long Term Impact! Many mission type trips or events are a blessing and do good things... but we want to work in places we can build for the long haul. This is developing into one of those places. Lame Deer is one of the MOST CHALLENGING towns in our whole state. We believe God is going to move there in a big way!
What have have accomplished so far:
1) CONSTRUCTION TEAMS: We had a team led by Jonas Canney from Helena who put on a much needed Roof on Elisa's home. The roof leaked and was in bad repair. Mount Helena Church generously paid for and purchased needed roofing for this job! The property the church owns will have ongoing work and we want to facilitate many work/construction trips to Lame Deer in the Future.
2) HALLOWEEN OUTREACH: Revive Church sent a team, with Mount Helena Church, to Lame Deer at the end of October 2023 to help run a Fall Carnival Halloween night. Hope Church Lame Deer has often run successful fall outreaches on Halloween where most of the community comes to the church property to play carnival games, do hay rides, inflatable games, food and receive prayer. Revive Church provided many of the carnival/inflatable games and helped Elisa have another amazing community outreach.
